Pudao Wines New Online Shop Launches in HK - 07/04/14

Good online retailers are hard to come by in HK which is why the new opening of Pudao Wines is really quite exciting. Launched last week, the website is clear, concise and easy to navigate with a great selection of wines to choose from at very competitive prices.

Tasting a selection of around x30 wines at last week’s launch event at The Glasshouse at IFC, the following are my top selection and can all be purchased through the website with immediate effect. Get buying!

Kressmann Monopole Blanc 2011, Bordeaux, France - HK$135

Aromatic with a floral touch fairly unusual to find in most SB. Light body with more typical herbaceous, grassy character coming out on the palate. 16

Domaine William Fevre Petit Chablis 2012, Burgundy, France - HK$170

Floral touches alongside lemon and a hint of mineral. Medium bodied, high acidity with decent length. Much more complex than your average Petit Chablis. A good buy! 16

Gerard Bertrand Terroir 2011, Corbieres, Languedoc-Roussillon, France - HK$180

Nice black and red fruit character on the nose and palate. Medium tannins, ripe and juicy. Nice intensity. Easy going for easy drinking. 16

Teso La Monja Romanico 2011, Toro, Spain - HK$145

Nice raspberry aromas on the nose, spice, oak, a touch of creaminess. Big, chewy tannins, full body and full on flavours. V tasty and well worth it’s very reasonable price. 16.5

Livio Felluga Terre Alte 2011, Rosazzo, Friuli, Italy - HK$800

Nutty almond blossom on the nose with plenty of savoury complexity alongside the peach and apricot fruit. Lovely acidity, very well balanced with long length. A food wine. A good alternative to white Burgundy. 17.5

Domaine Remi Jobard Les Genevrieres Meursault 1er Cru 2007, Burgundy, France - HK$695

Medium intense ripe lemon citrus aromas, full bodied, creamy, rich, toasty with vanilla touches. Good acidity and some nice minerality on the finish. 17

Ricasoli Castello di Brolio 2001, Chianti Classico, Italy - HK$825

My wine of the night! Some really lovely development here but the wine is still expressing lots of youthful fresh fruit character. Really alive and vibrant. Lots of cherry fruit alongside some fresh herb notes. Big, chalky tannins, high acidity, really very tasty. A food wine to contemplate for a number of hours. 18

Bouchard Pere & Fils Nuits-St-Georges Les Cailles 1er Cru 2010, Burgundy, France - HK$780

Some nice red fruit, raspberry, strawberry and red cherry character. Medium, rounded tannins, nice fruity finish. 17

Sandrone “Le Vigne” 2008, Barolo, Piemonte, Italy - HK$850

Wonderful vibrant intense nose of violets and black plum fruit with touches of red cherries. High tannin, high acidity. A very classic example of Barolo and more approachable certainly than some. 17.5
